Blog 10 – My first month of blogging

I have officially completed my first month of blogging! Yay me! I have loved every single second of it. I feel so extremely liberated being about to share my thoughts and feelings and daily shenanigans with a bunch of strangers who are just lovely. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I am so happy I took the leap into the unknown (literally the unknown for me, I’m a writing novice!). It has been tricky at times, juggling my full-time job with writing and organising my social media accounts, but it’s been so rewarding and I am feeling an incredible sense of pride right now.

Twitter has opened my eyes to new EVERYTHING! New people, new ways of communicating and the newest of all… promoting me and my blog. Now don’t get me wrong I am still learning and will need a good few months I think before I’m promoting myself well enough to reach my intended audience. But the people I have connected with have truly been amazing and I am touched by their support, especially @StealTheMGaming He has really boosted my confidence and believed in me from the first week and I am really grateful. Check out his blog too he is just awesome!

I really need to up my Instagram game, but I think that will come with time and a bit more photograph taking on my part. I’d like a new camera to be able to do any picture justice, so lets see what my birthday brings and if not that… Father Christmas! Any tips on this will be welcomed with wide open arms.

Writing has been extremely therapeutic for me, more than I ever thought! I have been able to write about Isaac and my struggle with my grief in such an open way, it feels like a little of that weight has been lifted. I think I write more about how I feel in my blog than I tell my parents and close friends and that for me is massive. I have been working on this for 6 years and I think I have finally found the best way to do it! I cannot wait to share more with you.

One of the first things I was asked when I started was about my niche. Well I’m not sure I have one or even want one. And that’s OK with me. My blog is like my diary and right now, I can write about anything and everything I want to and don’t have to try to fit it into a category. I feel like I have freedom and a safe space to share what’s actually going on in my head.

I have saved the best till last… I have absolutely loved reading other people’s blog posts. There are some amazing writers out there and I have really enjoyed getting into bed on a night and reading through as many as I can, (I need to put my phone away I know). I have learned so much through them and picked up some super blogging tips. So thanks guys! The blogging community is very special and I feel so lucky to be proud of it.

Here is to many more months and words and positive thoughts.

Thanks for reading.

Kim

  1. Happy first month of blogging! I totally get you about not having a niche, I have no idea what mine is either and I’m kind of happy about that, like you can literally write about anything and it feels awesome. I’m so glad you found a place to put your feelings down and a place where you’re able to meet more people! I’m so glad to have connected with you. You are so lovely and I can’t wait to keep supporting you and hearing your stories! P.s I hope living with your bestie is going amazing!
