Blog 24 – Happy New Year!

Welcome to my first blog of 2019! Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a fab time with family and friends! I have gone into this new year with my eyes wide open and eager for change and all that comes with the new year new me stuff.

January is my toughest month to get through. It’s Isaac’s birthday/anniversary on the 26th. The weeks leading up to his big day fill me with a mix of emotions and I sometimes struggle to make it through without several good cries and a few tantrums.

I think about the last days before I gave birth. Those were the most precious ones to me until he came. Now don’t get me wrong, I was very uncomfortable, larger than life, cramp and heartburn and all that. But those were the days that I felt closest to him. Through the long nights of sitting up and stretching my legs, it was just me and him. I talked to him. I shared all my secrets and I told him all about the things we were going to do together.

Then I think of everything else. And before I know it I’m spiralling and sometimes need help to come back. January is super tough. And I will be glad when it’s over for another year and I can go back to sleeping properly. It’s like my body knows. It grieves with me.

BUT… and there is a brighter side to all this. I have time to think and reflect and make some plans for the coming year! And I do that with gusto! This year I have so many exciting things already planned and I cant wait to share them with you all.

Before we say goodbye to Christmas and New Year completely I just want to share with you a few of the gifts I received over the Christmas period. Santa was very good to me this year.

My absolute favourite gift was new bedding. Haha. I got a beautiful new duvet set and quilt and fluffy blanket. I’m struggling to get out of bed in a morning. So God help me when I’m back at work!

I received a gorgeous new charm for my Pandora bracelet. I love the Pandora jewellery. It is really good quality for a reasonable price for lots of things. I have been swearing by their stacking rings for years.

I also received an Amazon voucher. And with that I bought a few games for my old Nintendo DSi. I have dusted it off and brought it back to life. I’m just waiting for Super Mario Brothers to arrive and then I can really geek out.

One super special gift I received was this book for Isaac. I like to have books for him as I very often take one up to the cemetery and read him a chapter or two. A wonderful company called Signature Gifts sent me a Christmas Story Book. It is absolutely stunning and personalised throughout. I love nothing more than to see my sons name on anything, so to see it on something so beautifully illustrated has made my Christmas. I will definitely be looking at more of their products for gifts in the future for my other Mummy friends. I can not recommend this company enough.

Here are a few pictures of this precious gift.

My best friend also bought me a ton of Zoella products from her new ranges. I’m like a superfan! I’ve got a bit of everything. Snack boxes, hat and bath products… they smell amazing!

I want to start the year with trying to do some healthy eating. I really need to. I have a big wedding in Feb and I want to feel nice in my dress. I am going to be doing extra laps of the park with the dog. Watch this space!

I have set myself 5 goals for this month. Wish me luck. I am shockingly bad with sticking to these.
1. Read one of the books from my reading list.
2. Watch 2 films at the cinema.
3. Stick to my blogging plan for the month. I have a shiny new planner and I am already ahead. Go me!
4. Reach out to my mummy friends every week. Just to check in and say hello.
5. Stick to my routine for the month. This will see me through and bring me out of the other side.

Have any of you made any goals or set resolutions for the new year?

Lots of love.
